CARDS FOR IDENTIFICATION

Upon your assumption of duty, a welcome package will be passed to you usually via your working Department. This welcome package includes information that you need to know for working at the University as well as enrollment forms regarding your benefits during your employment with the University.

For the convenience of your day-to-day activities in the University, here are some suggestions of what you need to do during your first two weeks of employment:

 

HKUST Card

  • For identification purpose and for access to campus facilities (e.g. library, gymnasium, etc.), you need an HKUST Card.

 

Family Card

  • Your dependents as defined in the University's employment contract documents will each be issued a family card. With the family card, they may have access to the on-campus facilities.
  • To apply for a family card, please submit to the Human Resources Office

 

Resident Card

  • Your other family members or domestic helpers who reside in the University quarters on campus may each apply for a resident card to facilitate identification upon entry to the University.
  • To apply for a resident card, please submit to the Human Resources Office

 

Conditions of Issuance and Use

  • The Card is an important proof of identity and authorized access to University facilities and resources where appropriate, and shall always be kept with good care by the sponsoring staff member and the card holder(s). The Card will enable its holder to enter the University. Permission to enter buildings or to use University resources and facilities is, however, subject to rules and regulations of the University.
  • The issuance of the Card is at the sole discretion of the University, and the University reserves the right to withdraw a Card at any time without giving any reasons or notice.
  • Appointees are deemed to consent to the conditions of issuance and use of Cards once they submit an application for Card(s), or acknowledge receipt of Card(s).
  • A Card holder is not permitted to possess more than one Card at the same time. The Cards are issued for the sole use by the person whose name appears on the Card only (referred to as “Card holder”) and is not transferable. Falsification or misuse of the Card constitutes an offence, and is subject to disciplinary action. The appointee shall also be held liable for any costs/liabilities arising from loss/misuse of any Card(s) issued to the Card holders under their name/sponsorship.
  • The Conditions of Issuance & Use is subject to review and changes at the University’s sole discretion from time to time as and when appropriate.
